What to say about Riz and Albert?
If you've never heard improvisational, "groove"
oriented jazz-trance music...this might be it! It's difficult
to "pigeon-hole" a genre for this music, although
it is certainly jazz and quite "entrancing"
in it's grooves. There are just enough dynamics to keep
it interesting, to grab your attention when you don't
expect it. Riz is a master at improvisation and can orchestrate
transistions with equal ability.
I don't remember meeting Albert,
but I am an unabashed Riz fan - especially his ragtime
guitar work! His style and versatility are prevalent in
this recording. It's a long, infectous listen - 3 tracks
in just under 45 minutes - but you won't realize it. There's
some occasional "special effects" and drum tones
that didn't work for me, but I think they were chosen
for different listeners. The mix is very simplistic and
straight-forward...you won't hear anything they can't
reproduce live (not such a big deal these days, I'm sure!).
If you listen more than a few times, very closely, you'll
hear some hitches here and there. Usually at transistions
from one instrument to the next, this gives it a more
realistic or "live" feel, to me. It's been in
my CD player for awhile and I listen to it every now and
then...especially while driving in traffic. Like I said
before it's INFECTIOUS!
Credits are: Riz - Piano;

Albert - Electronique Processing; Drums; Programming.
One caution to all that record to CD-R
media - They should NOT be played in
DVD players . Most DVD players will play standard CDs, but
CD-R media is made out of different material that can be
ruined by a DVD's more powerful, more highly focused laser.
Please note this on your CD labels, just as a precaution...you
don't want anyone ruining your hard work by accident, do
you?
